Arrest made over Koropi fire

A resident of Koropi in eastern Attica has been arrested in connection to a fire that broke out on Wednesday morning and, stoked by strong winds, set ablaze a refrigerator factory on the busy Markopoulo-Koropi highway, along with three cars parked on the premises.

According to fire chief Stelios Stefanidis, the suspect is accused of starting the blaze after a fire he set to clear brush on his property got out of hand.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control after it had spread to surrounding brushland.
