Greek film wins Venice screenplay award
The story of a singular technique for grief counseling earned Giorgos Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou the Best Screenplay award at the 68 Venice Film Festival on Saturday evening.
Directed by Lanthimos and starring Aris Servetalis, Aggeliki Papoulia and Ariane Labed, ?Alps? follows a group whose members take on the roles of deceased people in an attempt to enable those left behind handle their grief.
La Mostra?s Golden Lion for Best Film was awarded to Aleksander Sokurov, while the festival?s Silver Lion for Best Director went to Shangjun Cai for ?Ren Shan Ren Hai.?
