Ninety ruling coalition MPs back exclusion of media staff
As employees of state broadcaster ERT continue with strike action, more than 90 deputies from the coalition government have signed a draft amendment calling for ERT workers and employees of other state media and local broadcasters to be excluded from measures in the broader civil service.
The measures will lead to salary reductions and the obligatory transfer of thousands of staff into early retirement or a labor reserve scheme where they will receive 60 percent of their wages for a year before their status is reviewed.
