Fraudster claimed to have hospital connections

Police in Thessaloniki on Wednesday detained a 55-year-old Georgian woman alleged to have swindled just under 19,000 euros by telling her victims that she had connections at hospitals in the port city and could get jobs for her victims.

The suspect, alleged to have raised the cash in down-payments from 17 different people, was to face a prosecutor Wednesday on a string of fraud charges.

Officers seized from her home a stack of forged documents bearing the Health Ministry?s stamp.
