Owners likely to get more time to declare illegal homes
The Environment Ministry is set to give owners of illegal properties another two months to declare their homes, sources said on Wednesday.
Due to the small number of property owners that have come forward to declare their homes ahead of the December 31 deadline, as well as the reluctance of those who have submitted their paperwork to pay the first installment of their fines, the ministry appears to have few options but to give people more time.
The government had planned to raise 600 million euros from the process by the end of the year but has only raised some 30 million euros so far.
