HIGHWAY BLOCKED
Landfill protest at Mandra As thousands of Athenians headed back to the capital yesterday after their Easter holidays, further traffic problems arose as protesters blocked the Athens-Corinth road at the Mandra bridge in protest at plans to build waste management facilities in their area and other parts of western Attica. Traffic police, who set up diversions at the Megara and Nea Peramos junctions for Athens-bound traffic, said the traffic had been slowed down but that no major problems had arisen. Priest, cantors killed A 64-year-old priest and two octogenarian cantors were killed when the car they were traveling in plunged into a 100-meter ravine outside the village of Nestorio in the northern prefecture of Kastoria before tumbling into the Aliakmon River, police said on Saturday.
