Manslaughter charges for 4 hospital staff in baby death

The head of the pediatric clinic at Veria Hospital in northern Greece, a nurse at the hospital and the chief of the pediatric clinic at Thessaloniki?s Special Diseases Hospital, as well as a doctor there were charged with manslaughter through negligence on Tuesday in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy in March 2010.

The child, Yiannis Moisiadis, suffered a serious infection while being treated for a mild case for asthma but Thessaloniki prosecutor Efthimia Tsirakoglou found that staff at the hospital in Veria and then Thessaloniki failed to diagnose and treat him properly, leading to the baby?s death.
