Psomiadis says he was ill-treated in Skopje [update]
Makis Psomiadis, the businessman and soccer club owner at the heart of an investigation into a match-fixing scandal, was remanded in custody at Korydallos Prison in Athens on Tuesday, after being handed over to Greek authorities on Monday by the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
?I wanted to return to Greece. I was not treated well in Skopje because I am Greek,? Psomiadis told a prosecutor on Tuesday, repeating previous claims that he is a ?political prisoner.?
Psomiadis was extradited to Greece on Monday and handed over to local authorities at the Evzones border crossing.
He had been arrested in Skopje, the capital of FYROM, in November, a few weeks after fleeing Greece.
The owner of Kavala soccer club faces charges of setting up a criminal organization, blackmail, bribery and match fixing.
