Amnesty fears for freedom of expression in Greece

Amnesty International has expressed concern over attacks by police officers on journalists during anti-austerity protests in Athens last month, saying that apart from causing several people physical injury, the assaults have also had ?a detrimental effect upon freedom of expression.?

The rights group said its representatives had spoken to several Greek reporters and photojournalists about their experiences and called for ?prompt, thorough, independent and impartial investigations.?
