Kerkini Lake at risk of flooding
Strong downpours in northern Greece and neighboring Bulgaria have brought Kerkini Lake in Serres close to flooding point, according to authorities, who convened a meeting on Wednesday to discuss measures to stem the flow of water, which could destroy hundreds of hectares of farmland.
The banks of the artifical lake have been fortified with sandbags.
