Ex-mayor of Thessaloniki released on bail

The former mayor of Thessaloniki, Vassilis Papageorgopoulos, was granted conditional release on Monday after posting 120,000 euros in bail, following his testimony on charges of embezzling more than 50 million euros from city coffers and laundering the proceeds.

His wife was also released after testifying over the same charges.
