Viki Stamati to stay in prison

The council of misdemeanors court judges on Tuesday rejected an appeal by Viki Stamati, the wife of ex-Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, to be released from Korydallos Prison, where she and her husband are in pretrial detention for money laundering.

The court ruled that Stamati, who asked to be put under house arrest in order to be close to her 5-year-old son, was a flight risk and therefore could not be released.

A similar ruling was reached for Tsochatzopoulos.
