Zachopoulos drops civil suit against Anastasiadis

The former general secretary of the Culture Ministry, Christos Zachopoulos (photo), who attempted suicide in 2007 after a ministry employee allegedly tried to blackmail him over their affair, on Monday accepted the option of agreeing to an out-of-court settlement with publisher Themos Anastasiadis, who was also embroiled in the affair.

This means that Zachopoulos?s civil suit against Anastasiadis, who is alleged to have obtained video evidence from Culture Ministry employee Evi Tsekou of her affair with the former bureaucrat, will be dropped.

Tsekou?s trial will continue on July 24.
