Uni canteen subsidies to be linked to parents’ income

University students will only receive subsidized food if their parents? income falls below a certain level, the government has decided.

Those with no siblings will only be able to use the subsidized canteens if their parents earn under 45,000 euros per year. For students from two-child families, the cutoff point will be 55,000 euros. It will rise by 5,000 euros for every child after that.

Education Minister Constantinos Arvanitopoulos informed university representatives of the change at a meeting Tuesday.
