Commuter woes to continue on Friday

There will be no letup in public transport woes on Friday as staff walk out again on the Athens metro, the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP) and the tram, continuing their protests against Greece?s ongoing austerity drive.

Buses and trolley buses are to operate as usual while taxi drivers, who have been on strike for most of the week, are set to return to work from 5 a.m.

Traffic on the streets of the capital is expected to be heavy on Friday as thousands of Athenians resort to using their cars again.

Unions representing public transport workers are to meet today to discuss their course of action.
