Actor buys out jail sentence after arrest over dud checks
Actor and theater director Giorgos Kimoulis, arrested in his dressing room at a central Athens theater on Wednesday, was released on Thursday after buying himself out of a 15-month jail sentence for issuing bad checks.
The acclaimed actor also blasted local media reports earlier this week suggesting that he had been hiding from authorities looking to arrest him for unpaid debts to the state worth 200,000 euros.
Kimoulis said reports suggesting that he was fleeing from justice were “a public humiliation” after saying that he has already made a deal to settle his debts.
