Police detain 139 in crackdown on crime in the Peloponnese

A total of 139 suspects were detained, of whom 33 were arrested, during a massive police operation in the Peloponnese this week.

Some 270 suspects and 180 vehicles were searched during the campaign, which was aimed at fighting crime in the Laconia and Corinthia regions.

Most suspects were arrested because they were not in possession of the proper residence papers.

Other charges included drug possession, receiving stolen property and electricity theft.

Suspects were expected to face a prosecutor.
