Former prime minister to respond to Lagarde list committee summons with note

Former Prime Minister George Papandreou is expected on Tuesday to respond with a missive to a summons from a Parliamentary committee investigating the handling of a list of Greeks with large deposists at HSBC in Geneva.

Last week Papandreou submitted a written deposition to the committee, which is examining whether ex-Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou – who served under Papandreou – had tampered with the list that was handed to him by French authorities in 2010 and removed the names of certain relatives of his from it.

Kathimerini understands that Papandreou plans to send a letter to the committee on Tuesday arguing that he has already said all he has to say on the issue in his deposition.

Papandreou is currently in the United States conducting a series of seminars at Harvard University.
