Samaras receives pensioners at Maximos Mansion
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Friday received at the Maximos Mansion a
delegation of pensioners who had earlier staged a rally in central Athens to protest the government’s ongoing austerity drive.
The pensioners briefed Samaras on the problems they face following a series of cuts to their benefits carried out by successive governments over the past three years since Greece signed its first loan agreement with foreign creditors. They reportedly asked the premier to take measures that would offer relief for pensioners.
According to sources, Ssamaras told the pensioners that he would meet with several ministers next week to discuss ways in which the burden on pensioners can be lifted.
