Railway thieves nab 1 kilometer of copper cable

Unidentified thieves removed one kilometer of copper cabling from a section of railway track in Larissa, central Greece, reports said on Friday.

The cabling is used to interrupt the electrical current on the railway track, in the event of an accident. Fortunately, however, its removal did not prompt any upsets and trains served the route as normal, sources said.

According to police in Larissa, the theft was carried out on Wednesday.
