Weather to take turn for the worse across Greece

Sunny skies will give way to heavy cloud and thunderstorms, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service warned on Tuesday, adding that stormy conditions would persist through Wednesday.

Central Macedonia, Thessaly (mainly the eastern part of the region), the islands of the Sporades, central and mainland Greece, Evia and the Peloponnese are expected to see storms gathering late on Tuesday, bringing strong downpours and thunder on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Hail is also likely.

The Greek capital should also expect showers early on Wednesday, with thunderstorms forecast for the west and north of Attica.

Winds are also expected to pick up, reaching speeds of 7-8 Beaufort.
