Fraudsters claiming money from elderly citizens arrested

Two men, aged 46 and 26, have been arrested in Thessaloniki on suspicion of tricking elderly people into giving them money by claiming that one of their relatives had been hospitalized and needed to undergo surgery.

The two suspects allegedly obtained 36,500 euros in cash and 4,000 euros worth of jewelry by scamming 13 Thessaloniki residents.
