Around 300,000 people in Greece infected with hep B

Some 300,000 people in Greece are believed to be infected with the hepatitis B virus and another 200,000 with hepatitis C, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) said on Thursday.

In a report published ahead of World Hepatitis Day on Sunday, KEELPNO said that Greece is among the countries with moderate endemicity of the disease, which assaults the liver and is believed to kill 1 million people a year worldwide.
