High risk of fire on Wednesday
Greek authorities warned residents on Wednesday that certain areas across the country were at high risk of fire on the same day. These included the prefectures of Attica, Corfu, southern Evia, Argolida, Corinthia, Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki and the islands of Sporades.
Residents were asked to avoid outdoor activities which could cause fire through negligence, including the burning of dry weeds and tree branches as well as the outdoor use of saws and welding machines.
