Two Athens police officers given the boot over fake certificates
The City of Athens on Tuesday canceled the employment contracts of two municipal police officers after they were found to have lied about their qualifications.
One policeman, hired in 2005, was found to have a fake high school graduation certificate.
The other, hired in 2010, produced a forged certificate of proficiency in English.
Both officers will face legal action and could be forced to return at least part of their salaries to the municipality.
