Golden Dawn members to face arms possession charges
Five self-proclaimed members of ultranationalist party Golden Dawn are expected to face charges for arms possession after being arrested during a police street search in the port city of Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on Friday night.
During the search, which was conducted near the extreme right-wing party’s city center offices, police officers discovered three collapsible batons, two pocket knives, four canisters of pepper spray and one smoke bomb.
Meanwhile, three people were detained after they were discovered carrying helmets, spears and shields outside Golden Dawn’s Halkida branch, on the island of Evia, also late on Friday.
