SDOE interecepts bootleg liquor shipment; nabs Crete doctor over receipts

A Bulgarian-registered truck carrying 15,400 liters of low-grade alcohol used in the production of bootleg liquor was intercepted by a team of inspectors from the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) in the Vale of Tempe, central Greece, on Thursday.

According to SDOE, the sale of the liquor would have resulted in a loss of revenues totaling some 600,000 euros.

SDOE inspectors on Crete also arrested a doctor who is believed to have examined over 6,000 tourists over the past five years without ever issuing a receipt.
