Crete pensioner tries to take his own life during eviction
A 74-year-old pensioner was fighting for his life in the intensive-care unit of a hospital in Hania, Crete, on Wednesday after reportedly shooting himself in an apparent bid to commit suicide when authorities delivered him an eviction notice.
The two bailiffs delivering the notice, which was issued due to outstanding rent payments, said the man went to his bedroom before they heard a gunshot.
