Kostopoulos trial set for December 10

Morning television host and former publisher and radio producer Petros Kostopoulos is scheduled to stand trial for overdue debts to the state on December 10, his lawyer Ioanna Kalatzakou said on Wednesday.

Kostopoulos, founder of the now defunct IMAKO media group, turned himself in to authorities in Athens on Monday in order to face a prosecutor over charges of owing the state 350,000 euros.

According to reports, Kostopoulos is facing felony charges for unpaid taxes and social security contributions, though he refuses to recognize 150,000 euros of the debt arguing that this sum is the subject of an oingoing court case. IMAKO filed for bankruptcy in September.

Meanwhile, construction businessman and former publisher of Apogevmatini daily newspaper was arrested early on Wednesday on charges of owing the state some 200,000 euros.
