Athens University senate to discuss ways of saving semester
Athens University’s senate is due to meet on Friday to discuss ways in which academic staff could avoid students missing out on the year’s first semester during a three-month strike by administrative employees.
Departments have mostly reopened but, clearly, there is a huge amount of teaching time that needs to be made up if students are to be able to be tested in their subjects at the end of the current semester.
One department that has yet to resume classes is the Philosophical School, where around 20 leftist students are reportedly staging a sit-in.
The administrative staff went on strike over plans to force them into a public sector mobility scheme.
