Volunteer gets 11-year-sentence for involvement in illegal adoption
A volunteer worker at the Aghios Stylianos home for abandoned children in Thessaloniki has been given an 11-year jail sentence after being found guilty of working with a Bulgarian child-smuggling ring.
Another five people, all Bulgarian nationals, were also convicted.
The suspects were arrested in January on suspicions that a 29-year-old Bulgarian woman was giving up her baby so it could be illegally adopted by a Greek couple.
