KKE chief urges communist voters to turn their backs on SYRIZA
Greek Communist Party (KKE) chief Dimitris Koutsoumbas has urged party supporters to cast a blank or invalid vote where a communist candidate is not on the ballot on Sunday’s local elections.
Speaking during a live broadcast on Friday, Koutsoumbas attacked leftist opposition SYRIZA for being dedicated to the maintenance of the capitalist status quo.
“[SYRIZA] engages in gimmicky rhetoric… and wants to be Caliph instead of the Caliph,” Koutsoumbas said borrowing a line from French comic strip character Iznogoud.
Social democracy, the KKE chief said, facilitates the path to the system’s last resort, which is fascism.
