Former Golden Dawn deputy testifying to prosecutors

A former Parliamentary deputy for Golden Dawn who left the far-right party amid controversy earlier this year was testifying on Monday before the two magistrates investigating whether the party constitutes a criminal organization.

Chrysovalantis Alexopoulos has denied charges of involvement in a criminal organization.

After the Larissa MP resigned from the party in early March he told Parliament during a subsequent debate that he had never been a member of GD’s political council and that he had wanted to quit GD after the murder of rapper Pavlos Fyssas last September by a party supporter but had delayed leaving due to fear of reprisals against himself and his family.
