Samaras and Venizelos to meet to discuss electricity sell-off

Coalition leaders Antonis Samaras and Evangelos Venizelos are due to met on Monday at 6 p.m. for talks.

Among the main topics of discussion will be the legislation the government is preparing to spin off part of the Public Power Corporation (PPC), which will be handed 30 percent of the electricity firm’s customers.

PASOK is keen to ensure that PPC’s current workers will be kept on and that their collective contracts will remain in place.

Creating the “small PPC” is one of the prior actions Greece has to complete to receive its next bailout sub-tranche of 1 billion euros.
