Two soccer fans remanded over violent attack on Crete

Two Cretan soccer fans were remanded in custody on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a rival supporter who is in a coma after suffering serious head injuries.

The two suspects, aged 24 and 27, are accused of attacking their victim, an Ethnikos Piraeus fan, when his team was playing Irodotos on Crete.

A third man, aged 22, was released after posting 2,000 euros in bail.

A fourth suspect, 32, is due to face a prosecutor tomorrow.

The four men face charges of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
