Greek navy officer arrested over bootleg alcohol

Police officers on Friday arrested a Greek navy officer on charges of trading in illicit alcohol on the Egnatia Highway outside the northern port city of Thessaloniki.

The 49-year-old officer was detained along with two Bulgarian nationals. The latter were driving a van said to have been carrying 6,126 bottles of bootleg alcohol, while the Greek officer was driving a vehicle in front of them, allegedly transporting 3,925 labels for the bottles.
