Main post offices stay open longer for first tranche of new property tax

The post office (ELTA) issued a statement on Monday saying that 59 of its outlets would stay open later than usual on Monday and Tuesday to allow taxpayers to pay the first instalment of the unified property tax (ENFIA).

There were long queues at banks and post offices on Monday as Greeks sought to beat the September 30 deadline for the first ENFIA tranche.

Initially, the first instalment had been due at the end of August but was postponed due to a number of errors with the tax.
