Security camera footage handed over in defense of ticket inspector
STASY, the company that manages fixed-track forms of public transport in Athens, said on Thursday that it had notified judicial authorities about an incident earlier this week involving a commuter who claimed she was slapped by a ticket inspector at the central Omonia metro station after refusing to pay a fine.
In a statement, STASY said it had supplied judicial officials with footage from its security cameras, noting that it aimed to protect “the standing” of public transport while also showing “absolute respect” for the rights of commuters.
The commuter claimed she was pushed and slapped by a ticket inspector after refusing to pay a fine for traveling without a ticket as she was unemployed.
