Seven lawmakers of the ultranationalist Golden Dawn party have been granted temporary leave from pre-trial custody to attend three votes in Parliament for a new president of the republic, on Wednesday and December 23 and 29.

Party leader and MP Nikos Michaloliakos, as well as lawmakers Christos Pappas, Yiannis Lagos, Giorgos Germenis, Panayiotis Iliopoulos, Nikos Kouzilos and Ilias Kasidiaris will be escorted from the capital’s Korydallos Prison to Parliament for all three days of voting, according to a decision by the head of the prison’s parole board, prosecutor Nikos Pimenidis.

According to a recent statement issued by Michaloliakos, Golden Dawn MPs will be voting against the government’s presidential candidate, Stavros Dimas.
