Cold weather persists
Heavy snowfall in various parts of the country, including Attica, Evia, Crete and the Cycladic islands, was expected to continue through Wednesday.
Strong winds reaching 6 to 8 Beaufort were expected in the Aegean Sea while icy conditions were set to hamper travel with several roads being closed to traffic.
In Attica snowfall was expected in northern and eastern parts of the region with temperatures reaching 0 to 6 degrees Celsius.
