Listed Plaka building got green light to become hotel

A listed building in the historical district of Plaka may be transformed into a hotel according to a decision taken by the Environment Ministry under the previous government and made public recently.

Built in 1925 on a design by architect Andreas Kriezis, the Kallimasioti Mansion on Mitropoleos is currently owned by textiles firm Selections Hitiroglou. The company, which has been buying up parts of the building since 1975, submitted an application with the ministry to alter the status of the property in October.

Though the license was granted, a representative of the company told Kathimerini that the building is currently being refurbished but there are no immediate plans to turn it into a hotel.
