Athens mayor offers NTUA help with graffiti cleanup

Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis on Tuesday contacted the rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Yiannis Golias, and said that municipal staff who specialize in removing graffiti from buildings were available to help purge the exterior walls of the institution of a large black and white adornment that has fueled controversy.

Kaminis expressed his sadness about the graffiti covering the NTUA’s walls, which is the focus of a prosecutors’ investigation, describing it as “an unacceptable act.”

Earlier this week Golias said the graffiti showed “a lack of good manners and culture, given that this is a monument,” but he refrained from condemning it as an act of vandalism.
