Three arrested in Athens for involvement in fraud ring

Three Pakistani nationals faced a prosecutor in Piraeus on Wednesday on forgery charges after police seized thousands of fake residence permits and other documents from an apartment in the area of Aghios Ioannis Rendi.

According to a police investigation, the fake documents had been mailed to a local convenience store from an address in China.

The suspects are alleged to have been running the store as a front for their illicit business.

The sale of some 4,000 permits seized from the apartment would have netted them some 2.4 million euros, according to police estimates.
