Man dies at Acropolis metro station after jumping in front of train

A 35-year-old man died at Acropolis metro station on Friday after apparently jumping in front of a train heading in the direction of Anthoupoli.

Authorities said the train driver was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the unnamed man.

The fire service was called to recover his body.

The incident happened at 2.20 p.m. and led to a partial suspension of the metro service for around an hour-and-a-half.
