Evia 5.3 Richter quake shakes Athens

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck north of Athens at 4.09 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the tremor’s epicenter was located in the seabed, some 26 kilometers northwest of Halkida, Evia.

Another tremor, measuring 4 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 1.20 a.m. on Tuesday, on the island of Crete. The quake’s epicenter was located in the seabed, 119 kilometers south of Zakros.
