Greece takes a step closer to Palestinian recognition
In what appeared to be a step toward the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with the foreign affairs minister of the Palestinian Authority, Riyad al-Maliki, in Athens on Monday.
Al-Maliki also met with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias. Athens, Kotzias said, supports “the two-state solution in the Middle East.” He added that the ministry had issued instructions for the use of the term “Palestine” throughout the public administration.
Kotzias also said that he is planning to visit Israel and Palestine in mid-July.
