Main roads to be closed on Saturday and Sunday for Athens Marathon

A number of roads will be closed in the capital on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday for the Athens Marathon.
Participants in the 42-kilometer race, which is to begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, will be running along Marathonos Avenue and then down Mesogeion Avenue toward the Panathenaic Stadium in the city center.
Runners will also compete in 5- and 10-kilometer races and there will be a 1,200-kilometer race for disabled athletes.
Roads around the Panathenaic Stadium will be closed from 5 p.m. on Saturday and again from 5 a.m. on Sunday through 7 p.m.
Roads will also be closed at some point during the day in Marathon, Rafina, Pikermi, Pallini, Paiania, Aghia Paraskevi, Holargos, Papagou, Halandri, Filothei, Psychico and downtown Athens.
