Police nab four over cocaine

Police have arrested a Greek truck driver and three Albanian men living in Greece on suspicion of smuggling large quantities of drugs, mainly cocaine and cannabis, into the country.

The driver, aged 45, was arrested after nine kilos of cocaine was found in his vehicle. It had a street value of 400,000 euros. He was stopped at the port of Patra after arriving on a ferry from Ancona in Italy. According to authorities, he picked up the drugs in the Netherlands.

He allegedly smuggled the drug on behalf of the three Albanians, aged 24, 28 and 39. They were arrested at their homes in Athens, from where two handguns and almost 30,000 euros in cash was recovered.
