Police guard arrested in connection with trafficking
A police guard has been arrested in connection with a gang suspected of trafficking women and alcohol in the Attica region and Halkida, authorities said Tuesday, adding that a police lieutenant is also under investigation.
The racket was allegedly run by three men – aged 46, 50 and 65 – who were also arrested. Police said the gang was well structured and active from at least 2014.
The guard was arrested for allegedly turning a blind eye to the gang’s activities with his lieutenant’s knowledge. Both have been suspended from duty.
