Tender for broadcasting permits moves a step closer

The details of the tender for broadcasting permits is to be put to public consultation by Friday, government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili said Tuesday.

Gerovasili added that once the process, which will last for seven to 10 days, has been completed and the content finalized, the tender will be launched and media groups will have 30 to 45 days to express their interest.

Also Tuesday, Minister of State Nikos Pappas and Alternate Finance Minister Giorgos Houliarakis signed a joint-ministerial decision that sets the starting price for national broadcasting licenses at 3 million euros. The government said that the figure was based on a study carried out by the international consulting firm Deloitte.

Gerovasili said that after the offers have been assessed, a bidding process will follow involving those who fulfill the criteria set by the government, which include the number of staff that successful candidates should employ.
